The Fund's Investors & Partners

General Partner

Rare, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Arlington, Virginia.  As a mission-driven organization, Rare’s business model seeks to catalyze philanthropic grant-based capital as well as return-seeking impact investment capital.  From a corporate structure perspective. The Meloy Fund for Sustainable Community Fisheries is an impact-first investment fund that seeks to have triple-bottom line positive performance, including social, environmental, and financial returns. To launch the Meloy Fund, Rare established a for-profit entity called Meloy Fund I, G.P., LLC, which it also wholly owns and controls. As the General Partner, Rare has contracted and partnered with Deliberate Capital, LLC, a wholly independent third-party management company, to act as the Fund Manager.  In its role as General Partner, Rare retains all final investment decisions relating to the Meloy Fund.
